EXTRA SHOWS FOR EDINBURGH

Young Scottish comedian Kevin Bridges (22) has sold out the entire run of his debut Edinburgh Fringe Festival show, An Hour to Sing For Your Soul, after a storming set on the opening episode of BBC ONE’s Michael McIntyre’s Comedy Roadshow.

Kevin delivered an outstanding set to rave reviews on BBC ONE’s Michael McIntyre’s Comedy Roadshow when the first episode, from the Edinburgh Playhouse, aired on Saturday 6 June attracting 5.2 million viewers.

The series prompted comedy fans around the UK to purchase tickets for his hotly anticipated debut show at the Joker Dome (Pleasance) at this year’s Fringe, with ticket sales flying through the roof during the first week on sale. All tickets for the 50 seater venue were sold across all 26 shows during August within one week.

Kevin says: “Selling out in just one week has been a major lift in the build up to my debut solo Fringe experience. My appearance on Michael Mcintyre’s Comedy Roadshow came at a great time and has undoubtedly been a factor in tickets being snapped up so fast. It's something beyond my control though. I tell the jokes … people there to laugh at them is just an added bonus. See you in Edinburgh!

Michael McIntyre says: “Kevin Bridges was sensational on Comedy Roadshow, a real star in the making. I’m thrilled that the TV show is introducing the public to exciting new comedy talent and this young Scot is definitely a name to watch in the future. I wish him the best of luck!”

Due to an overwhelming public demand, further shows have been added to Kevin’s Fringe 2009 season with two nights at Beyond (Pleasance Courtyard) on Thur 13 and Sat 15 August at 10pm plus at Beside (Pleasance Courtyard) on Sat 29 and Sun 30 August at 6.20pm.

Now aged just 22, Kevin’s natural gift for comedy has made him a regular at major comedy clubs up and down the country including The Comedy Store, The Glee Club, and Jongleurs. His critically acclaimed debut solo show at the Glasgow International Comedy Festival has led him to become a festival favourite selling out consecutive shows for the past three years.

Despite having not set foot in a comedy club before his first open mic spot in 2004, Kevin’s natural gift for comedy has ensured he has become a regular at major comedy clubs up and down the country including The Comedy Store, The Glee Club, and Jongleurs.

In 2006 he performed his debut solo show to critical acclaim at the Glasgow International Comedy Festival, in addition to Television & Radio work including appearances on The Comedy Store and The World Stands Up (for Paramount Comedy).

Put a mike in front of him and he does the business.....he capably nails the holy trinity of self-deprecating Glaswegian humour - drinking, violence and ill-health - with lean, punchy routines
