JOSH WIDDICOMBE – THE FURTHER ADVENTURES OF…

‘Guardian sports reporter turned ace observationalist Josh Widdicombe has the ability to find the sparkle in the mundane that puts him in line to be the next Sean Lock’ – Guardian

‘This is one of the most individual, accomplished, hilarious and unforgettable hours I have had this year’ – The Scotsman

‘His talent for comedy is priceless’ – The Evening Standard

2011′s Fosters Edinburgh Comedy Awards Best Newcomer nominee Josh Widdicombe will be touring the hotly-anticipated follow up to his critically acclaimed debut show. Josh will be playing The Further Adventures of… to audiences across the UK this winter.

The star of Channel 4′s Stand Up For The Week, Last Leg with Adam Hills and BBC One’s Live At The Apollo, Josh’s eagerly awaited brand new show deals with his inability to embrace adventure in his life, his continued frustration with everything he comes into contact with. Unable to relax and enjoy life, Josh has instead decided it is everyone else that is at fault for his lack of enthusiasm for leaving the house.

Since his first gig in January 2008 Josh has had a remarkable impact on the comedy circuit. In just four years he has been named Loaded LAFTA Best Newcomer Nominee 2012, Fosters Edinburgh Comedy Awards Best Newcomer nominee 2011, Chortle Best Breakthrough Act nominee 2011, FHM Stand Up Hero winner 2010 and Leicester Mercury Comedian of the Year 2010.

Now regarded as one of the best up-and-coming acts in the UK, Josh is in constant demand at clubs and theatres across the nation both in his solo shows and as support for the likes of Stephen Merchant, Alan Carr, Kevin Bridges and Michael McIntyre.

Outside the realms of stand-up, Josh has been busy taking part as a regular in two series of Channel 4′s Stand Up For The Week, Channel 4′s Comedy Gala Live At The 02 2012, Last Leg With Adam Hills, Mock The Week, 8 Out Of 10 Cats, The Rob Brydon Show, 8 Out Of 10 Cats, Edinburgh Fest Comedy Gala, BBC Radio 4’s Loose Ends, Arthur Smith’s Balham Bash, BBC Radio 5 Live’s Fighting Talk and Absolute Radio’s Rock n’ Roll Football. Also an accomplished writer, Josh has written regularly for Guardian Sports online.

  • FURTHER REVIEWS IN FOR CHEAP SHOTS AT THE DEFENCELESS

There's a case to be made that John Gordillo is one of the key shapers of our modern comedy landscape. His may not be a widely recognised name (he's probably best known as the presenter of topical BBC comedy show The RDA, a brilliant oddity that lives long in the memory), but as a writer, director and benevolent svengali he's helped to set many a major stand-up star on the road to greatness. In his own right, he's a spectacularly creative comic, offering sets that use politics, romance and family relationships as jumping-off points for wildly ambitious social theorising and sparkily funny comedy. He produces shows that genuinely make you think in a whole new way while keeping you laughing throughout. His last solo show, Fuckonomics – proposing a new economic theory based on our desire for sex – was one of the most intellectually ambitious offerings the fringe has seen in recent years.
    - The Guardian
John Gordillo is one of the smartest men in comedy. A brilliant combination and examination of the fake personal and the real personal. Typically intelligent, at times extraordinarily frank... this is quality, brain-food comedy. A great hour.
    - Scotland on Sunday
An arresting and perceptive hour from a stand up who truly gets at the nub of a creeping malaise with a message that ought to give anyone pause for thought.
    - The Scotsman
